Extra capacity should not mean lower standards.
Overflow work is production you need outside your own shop because capacity, equipment, skill, material, process, or schedule has become the constraint. Problem jobs are the parts that need more planning than a routine reorder.
How we handle it
The job is still reviewed for process fit, material, tooling, tolerances, inspection, outside processing, risk, and due date before we commit. An expedited schedule does not waive drawing requirements or workmanship standards.
- The drawing and purchase order remain the controlling requirements.
- Applicable CNC and fabrication defaults remain in effect unless the drawing says otherwise.
- Schedule risk is identified before commitment whenever practical.
- Outside processing and material lead times are included in the plan.
- If a requirement cannot be met as quoted, we communicate and obtain agreement rather than silently relaxing it.
Best uses
Short-notice overflow, hard-to-machine materials, unfamiliar geometries, repair/replacement parts, repeat work that exceeded internal capacity, tooling bottlenecks, and jobs where a missed due date is becoming more expensive than outsourcing.
